Joscha Arnold from Weilheim, was infected with the "jazz virus" at an early age and learned in high school big bands to a state youth jazz orchestra how playing together and solo are interlinked. At the same time, he developed a powerful, expressive sound on the tenor saxophone, which was refined by renowned teachers ranging from Johannes Enders to Domenic Landolf. Encounters with jazz greats from the USA, among others the guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel, refined his composition technique and understanding of harmony, but the hours as an adolescent with drummer legend Jimmy Cobb also provided him with stimuli pointing the way into his future.
